Axon Enterprise
I currently lead the Connected Devices Experience, Research and Design team at Axon. My team covers the law enforcement officer experience, including body cameras, conductive energy weapons and sensors, interview room solutions, drones, in-car automated license-plate reading and mobile software applications.
All the hardware devices the officers are using are evidence collection devices that need to be set up, configured and managed. They all produce data and media that needs to be collected, reviewed and evaluated for evidentiary purposes. This is my team's software part of the work which connects the data generating devices and the on-device User Experience with the Digital Evidence Management part of the User Journey.
Satisfying — Axon's Moon Shot is reducing officer involved shootings by 50% in 10 years. This is not just a slogan or words on a website, this is a deeply felt conviction for the people working on all products. We pride ourselves on making a difference and being an integral part of the relationship between law enforcement, the public and the legal system.
Ethics, accountability and transparency are key components of the work and we work very closely with both, the law enforcement community and the public ensuring the work above board. We have a joke in the design community that UX isn't saving lives, so it's OK. This is one instance where this joke is not applicable at all. And we wouldn't have it any other way.

SONOS
Established, led and expanded the Configuration, Setup and Onboarding UX team in Seattle. I covered functional design leadership, strategic planning and detailed tactical direction for the secure setup, user onboarding, and product lifecycle experiences.
The Sonos products setup and onboarding experience is critical for setting the tone for the entire ownership journey. To reinforce and complement the great physical products, we re-designed and re-engineered the product setup process to be predictable and reliable for both in-market products and future planned devices. We regularly tested and validated our work for qualitative and quantitative feedback, using the results to guide improvements and future explorations.
Satisfying — As key player in the successful delivery of a multifaceted project, I had the privilege of collaborating with the Sonos team, one of the most professional and dedicated teams I've ever had the honor of working with. Together, we crafted exceptional end-to-end product experiences within the intricate realm of IoT, hardware, and software UX. The enthusiastic and passionate user base further fueled our efforts, as their love for the product translated into valuable feedback that greatly facilitated our work.

TECH RADAR
"Setting up the Sonos Roam took us just a few minutes."
"There’s also a ‘product tour’ within the app, to help you get to know the Sonos Roam’s controls and features – it’s a neat touch that makes the setup process feel really easy."
DIGITAL TRENDS
"If you’re a Sonos owner, you don’t need me to tell you how easy it is to set up the company’s wireless speakers. A few taps in the Sonos app, a few button presses on the speaker, and less than two minutes later, you’re done. But with the Roam, Sonos has simplified this process even further."
"No buttons to press and no passwords to enter. Every tech product should be this easy to configure."
BGR
"As is the case with all of Sonos’s wireless speakers, setting up the Roam is quite easy. As a matter of fact, the Roam is by far the simplest Sonos speaker to set up thanks to the addition of NFC. Simply open the Sonos app, tap over to settings, launch the function to add a new speaker, and the app pretty much does the rest. The only other manual step is to tap your smartphone to the back of the Roam when the app gives you the cue. And of course, Bluetooth is even easier to set up — just turn on the speaker, hold the power button until you hear two chimes to indicate you’re in Bluetooth mode, and pair."
TECH HIVE
"Setting up the Roam in my Brooklyn apartment, the Sonos app discovered the Roam almost instantly. It then prompted me to tap my iPhone on the side of the speaker between its four feet, thus allowing the devices to identify each other using their respective NFC (near-field communication) chips. It took a couple of tries for the NFC handshake to work, but once it did, the Sonos app connected the Roam to my wireless network and automatically downloaded a firmware update. Once that was done, the Roam was ready to go, with the whole setup process taking less than five minutes."
Microsoft
At Microsoft I led the 25 multi-specialty member Avatar Identity creative team. Delivered the new generation Xbox Avatars in 2018 and worked towards expanding identity representation in the workplace. Designed for trusted connections between people, work and social experiences via cloud driven architecture in a Mixed Reality context.
Prior to the Avatar engagement, as Design Director, I led the effort to define the next generation Windows Product Experiences for the Maps and People teams. Responsible for definition, articulation and delivery of secure, location data driven identity experiences to a variety of form factors ranging from mobile to Hololens.
I was leading the multidisciplinary team in simultaneously researching, concepting, and building relevant experiences for both the present and future releases. Our solutions were driven by people-data and location based information, integrated in functional experiences and services. We were tasked with delivering the inbox app experiences, consistently and reliably, at scale, to millions of connected devices and daily app users.
Satisfying — Microsoft's vast network of knowledge and brilliant people made it easy to work in an environment with a shared sense of purpose and a focus on exploring new mediums and defining new representation languages. The team had access to a tremendous amount of data, informing experience design, which provided an opportunity to impact and improve the experiences of millions of people daily.

Windows 10
I had the opportunity to direct the design and development of the Windows 10 Website and CRM program leading up to the August 2016 launch event. Accomplishshed this by working with a small team to create a flexible and responsive design system capable of rapid adaptation to marketing demands, with localization for over 60 international markets. Over a ten-month period, we followed a comprehensive human-centered design process that encompassed research, the establishment of business and design KPIs, test goals, design pitch, production, design system development, measurement, and optimization. This approach ensured that we successfully delivered the project while meeting the needs of a global audience and the demands of a fast-paced marketing environment.
Designing and maintaining a design and communication system that is flexible and keeps pace with the constant demands of the marketing program. Our design had to account for a constant influx of new creative and messaging and be built in strict adherence to Microsoft's design system.
The system, once designed and put in place, along with our partner comapnies, HCL America and Lionbridge, needed daily maintenance and qualitative testing validation.
Satisfying — Our team was driven, invested, and unafraid of pushing creative boundaries, which greatly contributed to our success. We delivered our work to an enthusiastic and demanding audience, consistently pushing the boundaries of design language and delivery frameworks throughout the project.
